LMT SAFETY TOWN'S FAMILY ALBUMS
These boys are prepared for the first day of Safety Town.American Red Cross of the Lehigh Valley sent us Scrubby Bear to teach our children how to properly wash their hands.  Mrs. Ashmar and one of our teens help the kids learn Scrubby's song.Washing hands is hard work, even when you're pretending.  Scrubby makes it funny with a song!Scrubby Bear is captivating!Kids love to say hi to Scrubby!A hug from Scrubby makes anyone's day!Scrubby you're so silly!There's some serious paw shakin' go on.Scrubby is fun to color, too!Sgt. Faulkner of the Allentown Police Department (and 2008's Office of the Year) teaches our kids about stranger danger and shows them some of the equipment that he uses.Stranger Danger with Sgt. Faulkner is serious business, but never scary.  The kids love riding around our Safety Town while learning bike safety.Pedestrian safety is learned at the same time bike safety is being put into practice.  LMT Safety Town is a busy place.Fun, exercise, and learning about safety are just a few reasons that our kid-size town is very popular with the kids.Even a Safety Town kid needs to park and take a rest every once in awhile.First Student (formerly Laidlaw) gives our kids a hands on bus safety lesson every year with a bus ride.A bus ride is so exciting!Mrs. Ashmar reads the kids a story to reinforce the safety lesson.  We regularly reinforce lessons learned at LMT Safety Town with books, songs, crafts, and take home materialOur kids love our certified teachers!  Mrs. Swatsky is preparing the kids for an upcoming lesson with a video.Mrs. Swatski (formerly Ms. Troccola) keeps safety lessons fun!Pick me!  Pick Me!Making new friends is another great thing about Safety Town.What a Safety Town cutie!All of our kids are assigned to pods of three or four with one or two teens assigned to each pod.  These teens are with the kids all week long.Our teens become their kids' best pals by the end of the week.Railroad Safety is an important local safety topic.  Sly Fox helps the kids to remember the important life saving lessons!Mrs. Ashmar's Class welcomes PennDot's Sly Fox to teach them about railroad safety. Stay off!  Stay away! Stay alive! Kids love that big red guy!Fire Safety is one of our favorite safety lessons.  Really what could be cooler than a fire truck up close?The only thing that could be cooler than a fire truck up close may be learning about the equipment and how it all works. Who wants to ring the fire bell?The Burn Prevention Foundation provides their Burn House to us every year.  This is such a wonderful hands on experience for the kids. Volunteer firefighter Bryan Bassett of Goodwill #1 Volunteer Fire Co. of Trexlertown is an annual fixture at LMT Safety Town's Fire Safety Day.Firefighter Bassett gets our kids ready for their tour of the burn house.The burn house is a perfectly safe place to learn what to do in a fire and how to prevent fire at home.Check out the ambulance!  The kids went inside and had a good look around.Firemen need lots of protection.  It is always interesting to see how much and what each thing does.Breathing in a fire requires assistance.  All this reinforces to kids that fires should be taken seriously.  Get out and get safe!The kids get to see all the layers once they're on.  Fire fighting is serious business.Future firemen?Future firewoman?Every year the PA State Police are a continual  presence at LMT Safety Town.  They help the kids learn safety lessons and they reinforce that our kids should trust our police when they need help.Our dashing troopers get ready to do photo ids and fingerprinting of our kids.  Parents should always have fingerprints and a current picture of their kids on hand.The fingerprinting and picture taking begins.The PSP patrol car is exciting to see up close!Cool cycle!  The PA State Troopers like to bring cool things like their motorcycles to show the kids at LMT Safety Town.What's better than a police motorcycle?  A police motorcycle and patrol car that the kids get to check out up close!Our first graduation in 2005 was made even more special when our cool as cucumber PSP troopers performed with our teens,  and Mrs. Ashmar, one of our fabulous certified teachers.Our kids perform with their teens for their parents on the last day of their LMT Safety Town session.Parents will find themselves knowing our safety songs.  Your Safety Town cutie may give you a personal concert on the way home!Songs are a great way to reinforce lessons with kids this age.  Our LMT Safety Town kids love to sing!"Look Mom, I graduated!"  All kids get a LMT Safety Town diploma when they graduate.Could this be a future PA State Trooper?
